Journey Templates: Before You Begin

Before you get started building out your Journeys, take time to consider the audience you are targeting and what information they want to receive over the course of that period. Use the below prompts to guide your planning!

Information to Consider

Journey

The Journey is the main place for communication with each candidate and new hire. This is where you will outline content and action items to create an individualized experience for each Recipient. Below are pieces of information that Gen Z wants to hear from you prior to starting.

Note: You’ll be able to create different templates for different personas.

Core Content

What everyone wants to know.

  • What benefits do you offer?
  • What’s your PTO policy?
  • What’s your work-from-home policy?
  • What are your mission, vision, and values?
  • What are the working hours?
  • When is payday?
  • ERGs (or other groups) that are available to join
  • Office Dress Code (if applicable)
  • Information on any technology they’ll receive from you
  • Info on how to log in to their tech and any platforms they have access to
  • What’s the typical career progression for the role?

Role Specific

Break this out by department as well as interns vs. new grads.

  • Who is on the team they are joining?
  • What does the day-to-day look like for their role?
  • Expectations
    • Day 0-30
    • Day 31-60
    • Day 61-90

Other Content to Consider

A lot of our customers also enroll managers and mentors in journeys. What do they need to know to be successful?

  • Meetings they need to schedule with their interns and/or new grads
  • Suggestions on how they can best welcome their intern and/or new grad like a card, taking them to lunch, etc.
  • Information about evaluation timing and process
  • Instructions on how to give feedback to their intern and/or new grad
  • Information about intern final presentations
  • How to properly offboard an intern

Resource Center

The Resource Center serves to supplement the Journey content you create. Any additional in-depth information you have to share should be included here. Things like…

  • Housing Guides
  • City Guides
  • Full benefit documentation
  • Company News
  • Calendar of events

Here is a walkthrough of an example journey to show you how your Gen Z candidates like to receive information. You’ll notice there are a lot of concise text boxes (with emojis 😀) - that’s because more than 60% of Gen Z prefers short-form text over other forms of communication.
